Three
old friends -- each in a very different stage of their life -- impulsively
visit a fortuneteller's parlor. Two of these young men have their fortunes
told, and they come out of the experience feeling, thinking and certainly
acting much differently than before. The film is a comedy about how when the
powers of suggestion collide with peoples' perceptions of fate, irrational
behavior can easily and perhaps understandably follow. FORTUNES raises timeless
questions in a simple manner: Is our future predetermined or self-determined?
Are our lives simply what we make of them, or is there indeed such a thing
as "fate"?
